Hosea 5:1-15
This text is tailored to teach us that God will use our idols to punish us in hope that our distress would lead us to humbly seek him.
I. Idolatry destroys us by keeping us from seeking God humbly. (v. 1-7)
II. God will punish our idolatry with our idolatry. (v. 8-14)
III. Our only hope is to seek God humbly by acknowledging our guilt. (v. 15)
IV. Questions for Reflection
1. Is there any sin or idolatry in your life you are putting off repenting of because you think you can always repent later?
2. Where do you look for deliverance and hope apart from God?
3. How does knowing God’s purpose is to draw us back to him stir you to acknowledge your guilt and seek his face?
