This text is tailored to teach us that that both wives and husbands should follow the example of Jesus in their relationship with their spouse.
I. A Word to Wives
A. Submit to your own husbands to win them to Christ. (v. 1-2)
B. Be known for your character not for your clothing to demonstrate your hope is in God. (v. 3-6)
II. A Word to Husbands
A. Understand your wives. (v. 7a)
B. Honor your wives as if they were heirs with you of the grace of life. (v. 7b)
C. Why? So that your prayers are not hindered. (v. 7c)
